How do Salsa instructors deal with 'extremely slow learners' [I know I shouldn’t describe it like that because, apparently, it is not pc]? I need help.
To put it in context, learners that are unable to remember routine that is longer than two or four bars. They can remember two or four bars (that is their total limit), but when the two or four bars routine is linked to a further two or three bars then they are totally loss.
These extremely slow learners are 'normal' in every normal sense and meaning. I have two extremely slow learners in my class hence I post such question. I have never experienced teaching such extremely slow learners before thus I don't know how to deal with them. I have broken down the steps into tiny pieces. I have repeated the tiny steps, over and over, till the whole class feel bored. I have also inquired whether these very slow learners have brain deficiency, and they have not.
Has any Salsa teacher encountered such experience and, if you have, how did you deal with it? Would you mind sharing you experience so that I can deal and improve my teaching to these very slow learners. Thanks.
