Students I have that take the time to learn this way tend to develope a better technique in dancing when compared to some of the other students that want to run before they can walk.

I agree completely if we live in an ideal world of Salsa dance. Salsa dance classes are sold, universally, as drop-in lessons and just turn up any time without partner.

Learners come and go as they like. I'm sure everyone has witnessed learners jump to different levels of classes as they wish. In my years of learning Salsa and I'm still learning, it makes me cringe when I see some learners think they were on Beginners class last week thus this week they should be in Improvers class, and the following week they should be in Intermediate class. No one (teachers) stopped them. They probably cannot do basic steps or dance to the music. By the way, these people are not thick but somehow when it comes to Salsa, they are brainless.

I was in a club last Sunday in Herts. Very well-known instructors (very good ones in my opinion) taught Intermediate level. I had no problem in following their teaching and style. They taught beautiful routine (this is going to upset T.T. who doesn't like teaching routine which I can't understand why).

It was a circle of 12 couple of learners (even numbers of males & females). I can only speak from male perspective that only half of female learners were suited for the class and/or at Intermediate level, while the rest, in my humble opinion should return to improvers class and hammer down the fundamental Salsa steps. One female couldn't even do CBL. The funny (not hah, hah) bit; she was a Latina and came from South America (found out later). Has anyone ever tried to tell or convinced any South American Latina/os that they need to take Salsa lessons? Their predicted answer always: "I'm a Latina/o and I know how to dance. Salsa is in my blood." What a codswallop!!

I abhor those learners attending a class that are not suitable for them. They are struggling with the steps or routines or variations or patterns (whatever you call it) that are being taught, and also spoiling the class and my enjoyment.
