Weren’t you a dancer first before you consider teaching i.e. progression to do what you naturally love doing? There is no way you can do the other way round. You need to be a carpenter or, at least, have the knowledge of carpentry before you can or consider teaching and studying the teacher training course.


So what’s wrong with having learned Salsa for years, progressed to higher level, and start experimenting to teach beginners? Someone has to start somewhere.



Yes, I started as a child.. my Q was trying to establish whether or no they had travelled the same route ( did you not read that it was not a perjorative q ? ).

Incidentally, dancing for multi yrs, does NOT qualify one to teach ( and i dont mean exam wise ).. different skill sets. Even with about13/14 yrs experience thru comps etc, I still didnt have the knowledge to " teach "..I,m STILL learning...
