Cherie Flynn Duo
I'm a disco/dance/rock/latin/jazz and swing vocalist,guitarist, keyboard player, flautist, and instrument teacher, who dances at modern jive classes regularly. My duo, "The Cherie Flynn Duo" has literally hundreds of tunes in its repertoire,from the 20's to this year's chart hits. We play a large number of the tunes which the DJ's play at my local modern jive classes and freestyle nights.
My Father, Terry, is the other half of the duo. In the 60's he played with many famous jazz musicians, such as Kenny Baker and Kathy Stobart (who was a tenor sax player in "The Ted Heath Band"). In the 60's and 70's Terry played in bands which had to back many famous acts, such as: Roy Castle, John Pertwee, and Tom O' Conner. Terry has played on local TV and on radio. He currently teaches piano & flute privately.
I believe that the duo's policy of playing quiet enough for people to still hear each other speak, along with our extensive and varied repertoire, makes us a good live act for modern jive events, as well as the more traditional venues such as restaurants and clubs. You can make your own mind up about this by going to hear us play live. We play every Friday from 8 to 11pm, at O Sole Mio, 2-3, Fernwood House, London Road, Cowplain Hampshire PO8 8DH.
