I'd like to add this as it is also relevant to the debate.
The Club we have recently moved to after being kicked out od the previous club (because of the tap water issue) is fantastic, it's clean fresh and as good a space in which to dance as you are likely to find for a nightclub.
The owners have spent more than a million pounds on the refurbishment! On top of that they have to find in excess of £100,000 per annum to cover the lease and a similar amount to cover council tax plus they have all the other associated costs of running a city centre nightclub that have been outlined in the many previous threads on this subject...
I just wanted to say that owners were really excited about doing Salsa after coming to our final night at the previous venue and have been really pro-active in trying to make it work and make it clean and comfortable for Salseros. They have said that they understand they won't make as much money from dancers as they would from clubbers/drinkers but are aware of that fact and want to go ahead with a Salsa night anyway as they want it on their listings...
They have provided all sorts of drinks alcoholic yes but especially non alcoholic to cater for people who want refreshments rather than drinks and have even reduced many of those prices after a few innitial complaints about prices - which were in any case average club prices!
I belive they have shown good form and should be thanked and supported ... Like every other club managers they have suggested to me that would be happy if the Salsa crowd spent between £5 and £10 per head, which I believe is fair and reasonable and certainly not greedy. After all Salseros will get two to five drinks for that money. They'll also get to dance Salsa in a very nice club and be welcome to stay ion that club ... It's a no brainer!
