Just to let you all know, I had a meeting with the promoter last night and I have now been paid. We had a long conversation and I mentioned some of the responses I had received on this forum and we have both agreed that we both could have handled it better.
The good news for me was that feedback to the promoter was that the students did actually enjoy the class very much and appreciated my honesty and they want me back. He has booked me again for September which I have accepted and we will have a clear and defined requirement so the situation will not be repeated.
So it all ended well and I learnt a VALUABLE lesson, mainly thanks to everyones comments here.
