![]() | I consider anyone who wishes to force me to buy something I do not wish to have in order to keep their venue economical as them sponging off me - forcing me to spend money to keep their costs down. Why should I, as someone who doesn't wish to drink, subsidise you? If those clubs are not economical without the drink, eventually salsa venues will settle on places that are economical as dance venues, rather than drinking establishments. The most long lived successful venue is Ealing Town Hall from what I can make out - I have never bought a drink there. I’ll bet you do wish to have a drink at Salsa … I’ll be willing to bet you do drink during a night out at Salsa … I’d also be willing to bet the reality is you just don’t want to pay for it … So you either don’t understand the clear logic of the argument or you are one of the selfish individuals who sponge off of fellow dancers that I’m referring to! If you were to change your errant ways and buy a drink or two, you would not subsidise me at all! Because I have never made a single penny from the bar in the fifteen years that I have been running Salsa clubs and events! What you would be doing is paying for the space in which you dance… It’s real easy to grasp if you just think about how much your mortgage or rent is and then times that by a factor of 20 or 30 to get an idea of the overheads of owning and running a venue then imagine you have a lodger who exploits your hospitality but refuses to pay you a penny for that hospitality. Think about how you would feel about your lodger and whether you’d have fair cause for complaint. This should give you an idea about how you should be viewed by promoters, venue owners and most of your fellow dancers! Clubs on 99% of Salsa nights only make money from the bar! How do you suppose they could be viable without making any money? The economics are that you contribute to paying for space in which you dance by spending at the bar and in 99% of venues that is the only way to do that and you need to spend between £5 and £10... Those are the economic facts my friend. If you choose not to pay your way in a fair and reasonable manner you are indeed sponging off of your fellow dancers pure and simple you are a sponger for they are paying for the space in which to dance and you are not... Because of that they will pay a premium as average prices will rise to make good the shortfall! Personally I’d BAN you unless you get real lighten up and start contributing like the rest of us! | ![]() |
