Well, it's clear that the current model of hoping people buy enough drinks is flawed enough for promoters to be regularly losing venues. Maybe a bit of imagination/invention between the promoter and the venue owner is required.

I would guess in the current financial climate that even profitable "normal" club nights will be taking less money than a year ago so that could make salsa nights less unattractive as the clientele aren't renowned as big spenders anyway.

I think the future could be shared space - clubs with two rooms using one for regular clubinng and one (smaller room) for salsa. Or church/village halls.
