Ok, as I mentioned when I started this thread, the aim wasn’t to recommence the same old comments from the Tap Water Lovers, that has been done to death.

El D, I admire your passion, this is what has kept you in the business for 10 years, bringing 1000's of people pleasure on the dance floor.

And as for the 1 or 2 people in this thread who can’t get their head around the negative issues related to ordering Tap Water I suggest you just let them be and hope they dont ruin too many people’s salsa nights.

As my Grand Father once told me, 'dont try and teach pigs to sing, it wastes your time and annoys the pig'

Promoters, dont take the uninformed feedback from the 1 or 2 Tap Water Lovers as a reason to stop you form being strong when it comes to educating your customers.

At our night last Tuesday we had 85 people there and only 1 pint of water ordered. This is how we do it.

Have BIG signs on the front of the bar stating 'Ordering Tap Water Kills All Know Salsa Venues Dead, PLEASE ORDER BOTTLED, thank you for supporting your night.

Use your own words but make the message strong and as short as possible.

Keep an eye on the amount of tap water being ordered. I check with the bar staff at the end of each night and if it goes too high (5 pints in one night is excessive), I make an announcement at the start of the following week.

It goes something like this.

'Hi everyone, I just want to thank all of those who have made the switch from Tap Water to Bottled Water. The bar looses money when they serve tap water and if they lose money we lose the venue, does anyone want to lose this venue? (We always get a loud 'No' from the educated... although sometimes I have to ask the question twice)

I continue 'great, thanks again to all of you who do support the bar; you are keeping this salsa night alive, now let’s party!'

Use your own words.

My goal is to have a picket style thing going on when I call out...

Me: 'What do we want?'
Customers: 'No Tap Water!'
Me: 'When do we want it?'
Customers (comedy pause)...We dont want it!

In my dreams!

Promoters, dont worry about upsetting people. You wont upset the non-tap water drinkers, the ones who do buy tap water out of 'ignorance' will happily change their ways once they know the effect of ordering the dreaded stuff, and those (like the one or two in this thread) who get angry at your comments will hopefully get soooo angry that they wont come back.....and that will be a good thing (as long as they dont come to mine instead!

You can either be strong and upset one or two…or be weak which will end up upsetting how ever many people you attract by telling them one day soon that you have lost the venue because of the tap water thing.

If all promoters do this then tap water will hopefully become a culturally unacceptable form of re-hydration and we will all live happily ever after with bar owners.

Now watch this drive....
