Firstly it would be impractical and illegal to ban anyone on the basis of what they drank if it was tap water.

Secondly, my point was that we will always have tap water drinkers perhaps the only option is to play the numbers game and to try to attract such a large number that at least the drinks tab is reasonable and any shortfall will be minimal.

For the purposes of informing the discussion about how venues may be secured, just to let you know the situation in London.


Case 1
For SCALA and venues of the sort a full rental fee is required - between £3000-£10000 depending upon the event. No drinks offset if factored in ie the drinks money all goes to the venue anyway.

Case 2
For other London Fringe venues you have to attain a drinks spend of between £2000-£3000 on the night or make up the shortfall in cash from the door.

Case 3
Most central London venues will only offer dead nights to salsa promoters in the hope that at least a small additional trade will be brought in

Many venues have died away from teh scene not because they were not popular - tehy were just not popular enough or financially viable when compared with the wants and desires of the salsa customer.
