Ah lave a man who does not give up! ;)

sadly i am one of those who will not pay for *tap* water. The premium on *bottled* water is bad enough. Dont even get me started on the premium of *coca cola*!

I make a point of spending £5 at least at the bar even when grumplaing underneath my breathe about the portions.............size of the glass and amount of ice Mister BarTender slips before you have a chance to say *non*.

If I go to a venue where the salsa promoter is charging for *l'eau de tap* or if you want to get more fanciful and call it *l'eau de Thames* nope I will walk with my feet and never return..............unless they throw in a free *juice d'orange* without ice with it! :D

Idea. How about 1 for 1. You buy one drink.......no increase in price!! You get a *free* glass of tap or bottle water. The makeup on fizzy water is shameful. Restauranteur told me it costs him about 1p and he sells it for £1.50+! Note I said restauranteur and not salsa promoter ;)

Oh and dont mention or whisper cloakroom charges either!

Great sense of humour 972 ... It is a pleasure to respond to you! But although your previous point was a ground shaker I believe you've overlooked the fact that you are not simply paying for the liquid (whatever fancy name you give it) in your glass at a night club!

I've made this point over and over but it ain’t getting through! The point being that you pay for the entire cost of running a venue - I won't bore you with details again but please feel free to use your imagination!

You first need to know the cost of running any given venue for a complete financial year … You then need to know the cost of purchasing the wholesale product. After that minus the cost of the whole sale product (the drinks) and that is the figure you need to make + a percentage profit naturally!

The complication and therefore risk is that you’ll have to calculate by averages and or projections and take into account the number of nights you run in any financial year, making sure to minus any loss making nights which there will undoubtedly be for most businesses! You then need to price your drinks accordingly in order to survive as a viable business in the market place.

So I hope you will agree it is not just the juice in your glass you are paying for when you buy a drink in a night club. It is also the cost of running and the provision of that night club which we can assume - for the sake of the argument – that you wish to enjoy and for which you must accept a responsibility to contribute towards!

Not as humorous a response as yours I know, but hey my brain hurts!

On the point about the cloak room, we charge £1 per person not per item which is well cheap I think you would agree!
