Chris ... I believe people can be strange at times and often have reasons which are not fathomable to any of us for acting in what appears to be a rude way ... sometimes it is simply that, they are being rude but might later regret that rudeness … though its also true that some simply don't care that they have been rude! Sometimes it’s also a matter of misperception and we were misreading a situation this happens especially when we are at low ebb. Most likely it is a combination of all of the above!

If you're someone that 'feels that you don't fit in comfortably' as you put it... then good for you as it probably means you've got the bollox to be different and have character and you've got my vote ... However, when you are perceived to be different, conformists can often give you a hard time of it and some may always give you a hard time! But I’m sure you realise this and you already know how to deal with it.

From your post you do seem to be having a difficult time right now so I just want to say if it helps at all that, people come and go and problems come and go but strength of character is something at your core and although at times it can take a knock it is very difficult to destroy once you have it … And it sounds to me that you have it in good measure actually.

I think you’ll bounce back as good as new and soon, though you might benefit from a small break from Salsa … but hey, please don’t give up because you’ve had one or two unhappy experiences recently. If Cuban style is not your thing it’s just that, not your thing … Don’t worry about it! Alternatively give it another try lessons wise, your understanding of it may improve and the girl you’ve mentioned may eventually catch the wave, though I wouldn’t expect lessons to guarantee you’ll grasp the Cuban feel; some people do and some don’t; I think generally for instance that smaller stocky guys adapt to Cuban better than say tall slim guys but that’s a generalisation and may or may not be true in your case! But at least then, you’ll know for sure and at least you gave it another shot to confirm that it is the case!

If that doesn’t work out, carry on as before albeit with a short break – many people get into (for the want of a better word) a rut with any hobby let alone dancing. I play the guitar Chris and sometimes I just have to put it away for a couple of months but I can’t do that for long … I miss it too much and always have to go back finding out when I do that I’ve been re-energised by the break and I’m good for another period.

Maybe as I‘ve suggested a break would do you some good as it might be the case that your Salsa kick at the moment is based on feeding the habit… Whatever you choose to do mate I hope it works out for you … These are just my thoughts and best wishes! Good luck anyway and Take care.
