I understand that you were trying to give Chris some encouragement, which is always a good thing. But he has made a couple of comments about telling his partners what to do on the dance floor, e.g.: "I asked if she would mind trying to feel the lead – look down a little less". He may not realise that many girls find these sorts of comments crushing and/or insulting and will avoid dancing with that person again. On the other hand (assuming he does not subject his partners to pain or excessive force!) if a person is polite and smiley most of the girls I know will not refuse a dance, whatever his level. Just my opinion.
