Sabor, forgive my Spanish understanding, means taste or flavour. Can you elaborate what you mean "it’s always about Sabor"?
You got it.. Flavor.. meaning in dance terms.. adding ingredients .. as in adapting musicality to fit the circumstance.. i,e,.. the changes within the music.. not dancing the same sequence of variety ,believing that one idea fits all.
The classic e.g. as i have mentioned in the past, is Cumbia passages that frequently occur ,particularly in bands from Venezuela and Colombia..these are the easiest to recognise . A. Barros would be a good starting point.. Canario also has this change of pace in some of his songs.. hope that helps .
Think of songs in spanish this way... they start with an appetizer.. they then begin to introduce the main course and eventually the banquet is served in its entirety .
Add to this mix.. originality that comes from "within".. thats the spice that one adds to the mix..
By the way. this is usually best observed in freestyle dancing. done spontaneously as they say in spanish.. Baile con Alma y Corazon ( dancing with heart and soul )
