Yanet's technique is superior to the average salsa dancer and she still got knocked out. A ballroom dancer might have a better chance, but still would not come in a high position
You obviously were not watching the heats, the Ballroom dancer struggled to master some of the other styles. and if he did get through what would he do in his Solo to impress?
lets face the fact that she simply could not cut it. Her solo was not that impressive, her choice of music was bad,
Yanet was down as a Salsa Dancer, this alone would have made it a uphill struggle for two reasons,
1) she would be limited to her choice of music for copywrite reasons and would be limited to only use music from the BBC library (I could be wrong but I believe this is the case)
2) in the limited time they have to do their solo, I could not see a Salsa dancer (which the majority os us do as a partner dance) doing enough to impress the judges over Jazz / Contemporary like Charlie and Mandy for instance. even Lizzie's Locking solo the other week.
Yanet was in the top 8 and that is saying something, the person that wins this competition will be a good all round dancer and this is what the competition is about, a lot of good dancers have gone out so Yanet should be proud that she got as far as she did, her glass is half full and not half empty
